RACE Exhibit at the Library extended through Sept 11th

Rochester Public Library and Mayo Clinic have brought the national touring exhibit “RACE: Are We So Different?” to Rochester this year. The exhibit will be on dispRace logolay from May 17 - Sept 11, 2010 on the second floor of the library. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

If you would be interested in volunteering to help with the the RACE exhibit, check out the Diversity Council website. Training will be provided for all volunteers.

Library to be closed for Labor Day, Sept 6th

The library will be closed all day on Monday, September 6th in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We will Man on hammockreopen on Tuesday, September 7th at 9:30am. The following weekend (September 11-12) we will resume our extended weekend hours on Saturdays (9:30am - 5:30pm) and Sundays (1:30pm - 5:30pm).

Suitcase Science
Thurs, Sept 16

Suitcase Science is a community-inspired theatre piece and exhibit that highlights many scientific disciplines: anthropology, geology, chemistry, Suitcase and globesociology and material culture. Join us on Thursday, September 16th at 6:00pm in the library auditorium for creative exercises, games, and conversations designed to elicit stories through the use of objects. All participants will be asked to bring two objects that have meaning, significance, or value to him or her. more»
