Bestseller/Award Lists 

Alex Awards - The Alex Awards are given to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18. The winning titles are selected from the previous year's publishing.

Man Booker Prize - The Man Booker Prize for Fiction promotes the finest in fiction by rewarding the very best book of the year.

National Book Awards - Presented annually in the United States of America by the National Book Foundation, to recognize achievements in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and young people's literature.

New York Times Best Seller List - NYT Book Review also available.

Pulitzer Prizes - Listing of all Pulitzer winners in all categories - journalism, photography, fiction, etc. - since the award was first given in 1917.


Booklists 

Based on the Book - 'Based on the Book' is a compilation of over 1,250 books, novels, short stories, and plays that have been made into motion pictures. Utilizing the Internet Movie Database as the authority, all movies in this collection have been released as feature-length films in the United States, in English, since 1980.

Fiction_L Booklists - Many discussion topics on Fiction_L, the Morton Grove Public Library's mailing list for reader's advisory issues, result in compilations of books on a particular theme, authors with similar styles, etc. Many of these booklists are available on the Fiction_L website.

KDL: What's Next? - The "What's Next?: Books In Series" database helps you search series fiction. A series is two or more books linked by character(s), settings, or other common traits.

Modern Library's 100 Best Novels of the 20th Century - During 1998, in an attempt to encourage people to talk about great books, the Modern Library polled over 200,000 readers regarding the best novels published in the English language since 1900. This "100 Best Novels" list was first published in The New York Times on Monday, July 20, 1998, and followed in 1999 by a "100 Best Nonfiction" list.

Oprah's Book Club - A complete list of all the books the Oprah has discussed on her televised book club, plus author interviews, reading group guides, and more.

Reading Group Choices - Based on the popular book with the same title, this site contains book discussion guides for a wide range of titles and tips for leading a successful book discussion group.

ReadingGroupGuides.com - Includes advice for book discussion group leaders, a wide ranges of guides either subdivided by type of book, author or title. Also contains recipes for your book group meetings.

AcqWeb's Directory of Book Reviews on the Web - AcqWeb is a World Wide Web site providing links to information and resources of interest to librarians with acquisitions or collection development responsibilities. The scope is international.

BookBrowse - A literary smorgasbord of the best current books. Includes excerpts from current fiction and non-fiction titles for adults and teens. Also has a list of resources for book clubs.

Booklist Homepage - This is the site for the American Library Association's "Booklist Magazine." It includes reviews of recently released titles and best book lists.

Fantastic Fiction - This website includes bibliographies for over 30,000 authors and information on over 350,000 books; it is also an excellent resource for checking the order of books in a series.

FictionDB - Online database for genre fiction bibliographies, pseudonyms, upcoming releases and links to author websites.

FictionFinder - FictionFinder allows you to search by place (ex: New Orleans), by character (Nancy Drew), as well as by title, setting, or plot summary. When you find an item you are interested in, you can then learn whether your library has it.

Genrefluent - Genrefluent is the official web site of author, editor, reviewer, reader, and librarian Diana Tixier Herald. It is a place to find out about new books for adults and teens who read for the fun of it.

Goodreads - Get great book recommendations from people you know, keep track of what you've read and what you'd like to read, answer book trivia, and collect your favorite quotes.

Google Book Search - Book Search works just like web search. When google finds a book with content that contains a match for your search terms, it will link to it in your search results.

LibraryThing - LibraryThing is an excellent way to keep track of the books you've read. Enter what you're reading now or your whole library to create a personalized catalog.

Monster Librarian - A source for readers of horror fiction to find another book to read and a source for librarians to develop their collections and provide readers advisory. Includes lists of horror fiction categorized by type of monster, i.e.: vampires, zombies, etc.

No Flying, No Tights - A website reviewing graphic novels for kids, teens, and adults.

Webrary: Readers Services - Includes recommendations, reviews, award winners, author interviews, the Fiction_L mailing list, Web sites, and more from the Morton Grove Public Library.

Western Writers of America - Western Writers of America, Inc., was founded in 1953 to promote the literature of the American West and bestow Spur Awards for distinguished writing in the western field. Their website has author and publisher contact information, Spur Award winner lists, and convention information.

Minnesota Fiction 

Minnesota Author Biographies Project - The Minnesota Author Biographies Project is the product of a collaboration between the Minnesota Historical Society, Metronet, and the Minnesota Center for the Book. This pilot database provides biographical sketches of 36 past and present Minnesota authors, complete with selected bibliographies and sources of additional information about the author.

Minnesota Book Awards - The Minnesota Book Awards is a Capital City project, led by The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, in consortium with the Saint Paul Public Library and the Mayor's office in the City of Saint Paul.

Minnesota Readers - Minnesota Public Radio wants to know what you're reading! Share reviews, tips, and your literary pursuits here. Science Fiction/Fantasy
